13th Annual Best of the Blue Ridge Awards

Wondering where the top trails are in the Blue Ridge? Or where can you get the best local cider and pizza after a day of adventure? Well, our readers have spoken!

Beginning in October of 2022, readers of Blue Ridge Outdoors nominated their favorite outdoor businesses, events, food/drinks, and destinations in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, and then voted for the best-of-the-best. This year we received over 200,000 total votes in our 50 Best of the Blue Ridge categories.

On the Shenandoah Beerwerks Trail, you can taste some of the best craft beer in the Commonwealth. Beer lovers can get their Passport stamped at 8 of the 17 breweries - located within an easy hour’s drive from one another - and earn a “Drink-in the Valley” t-shirt. The popular program has received almost 7,500 redeemed Passports, generating over 52,000 brewery visits in the Beerwerks footprint since 2016.

“We are thrilled Shenandoah Beerwerks Trail - which includes Devils Backbone Outpost Tap Room & Kitchen, Great Valley Farm Brewery & Winery, Heliotrope Brewery, and Rockbridge Vineyard & Brewery - was recognized as the Best Beer/Wine/Spirits Trail in this year’s Best of the Blue Ridge Awards,” says Rockbridge Regional Tourism Marketing Director Patty Williams. “These breweries are gathering spots where locals and visitors share their day’s experiences over lively conversation and craft brews. After a day on the trail or exploring our downtowns, what could be better than local beer, tasty bites from the kitchen or food truck, and live music?”

The Best of the Blue Ridge Awards are the most iconic and well-known outdoor awards in the Southeast. The winners each receive a winner seal to place in their windows and on digital and printed materials.
