Culinary
A 1700's flour milling tradition lives in Rockbridge County at Wade's Mill.
The National Register of Historic Places lists Wade's Mill (c1750) as a working water powered flour mill. Cooking classes are also available. Today countless eateries delight visitors with famous, local fare in intimate indoor settings or outdoor, café seating.
Wineries and Breweries
Recognized as the Small Brewpub and Small Brewpub Brewer of the Year, Devils Backbone Outpost Brewery is open for tours. Geocaching
It's all about the hunt. . . the geocaching hunt, that is. Gather your search party to final all the strategically placed caches (hidden containers) throughout the Gems of Rockbridge Geocaching Trail. The trail was developed in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Blue Ridge Parkway and to highlight the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Rockbridge County. Those that locate all of the caches on the trail and complete a passport will receive a commemorative coin.
Civil War Sites
Civil War history is prevalent throughout the area, and with many sites to visit and trails to follow, there is much to be discovered.
Natural Beauty
Surrounded by the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains, you can find few places on earth which offer the memorable scenery found in Lexington, Buena Vista and Rockbridge County.
