Although well maintained, this trail can be tough to follow at some points. In the first .2 mile, two bridges will go right, but stay on the dirt path. Soon after, the first sign of many points the direction to Blue Suck Falls. Follow the blue blazes to a fork in the road. Here, a sign directs to the left for .7 mile to reach the falls.

From the Lexington Visitor Center, drive west on Washington Street to a right onto Main Street (US-11 Business). Continue driving north on US-11 for approximately two miles. Turn left to merge onto I-64 W and drive for 28 miles to exit 27. Turn right onto VA-629 (Douthat State Park Road) and continue for 5.6 miles. Once in the park, turn right into Camp Carson Picnic Area. Cross the small bridge and park in the Discovery Center Parking area. Be sure to pay the parking fee and hang the yellow parking tag on your rear view mirror.

Hike to Blue Suck Falls after a heavy rainfall or during spring for a better view with higher water levels.

Take your camping gear or rent a cabin to stay a while. The park offers fishing, swimming, and horseback riding. Pick up some tasty provisions at Cattlemen's Market before hitting I-64 W.
