Just after the trailhead, cross the bridge over the east fork of Elk Creek. The trail passes through many campsites, and its first stretch, the Belfast Trail, is marked with blue blazes to make staying on the path easier. The trail makes a slight left turn and at the one-mile point reaches Devil’s Marbleyard. Here you can do some rock hopping while enjoying a very different natural view than most hikes in the area.

This trail is found just after Natural Bridge Station and before Arnold’s Valley. From the Lexington Visitor Center, drive east on Washington Street to a left at the stoplight onto East Nelson Street (US-60). Continue six miles into Buena Vista and take a right turn onto Beech Avenue / Sycamore Avenue / US-501. Drive 9.3 miles to a right onto VA-130 W. In 3.1 miles, turn left onto VA-759 S and continue 3.1 miles until the road forks three ways at the Glenwood Church. Take the left fork onto VA 781 (Petites Gap Road), and continue approximately 1.0 mile to the trail head parking area on the left.

• A couple of rather steep climbs and an overflow from the boulder field might make the trail hard to pass in inclement weather.
• The parking lot is small; consider visiting on a weekday. Please be respectful and do not park on private property or your vehicle may be towed.

• Restaurants in Buena Vista are sure to please on your way to Devil’s Marbleyard or back toward Lexington.
• Take in “bucket list” worthy attractions by continuing on VA-130 W to Natural Bridge State Park and the Caverns at Natural Bridge.
